Thien Phan – Machine Operator

As a manufacturing company, we have around 350 operators who operate a variety of machines – Thien Phan is one of these committed and diligent employees, and is currently our only female Machine Operator.

Thien is a local to the Dee Why area, and began working at our Dee Why site back in 2011. At that time, Prysmian had just secured the opportunity to produce cables for one of the biggest fibre rollout projects in Australia. Due to this, a new production line was commissioned, enabling us to manufacture Ribbon Fibre cables. This was not only a great project for the company, but also for the employees who were directly working on it, “it’s great to think that cables I have helped to make are now being used all around Australia.” Shared Thien.

Despite not having worked in a cable manufacturing role before working at Prysmian, Thien explained that she was provided with the necessary training prior to starting, “I previously worked in a similar environment, but never with cables. I was trained on the machines and processes when I first started and I really enjoyed learning something new.” Thien’s Supervisor Danny Menegazzi shared that it’s her diligence and willingness to learn that makes her a good employee, “Thien is not only hard working, but she has a strong attention to detail and always shows a keen interest in learning. I think everyone would agree she’s a valuable asset to our team.”

Team work is key to the success of a business, it not only increases efficiency, but it also improves communication, stimulates learning experiences and provides a support network. Thien explained that the team at Dee Why is always there to support each other when necessary, “I feel comfortable at Prysmian. The people are really friendly and I learn a lot from them. We try to help each other when there is a problem.”

A big thank you to Thien for her continued effort, we wish her and the Dee Why team all the best for the New Year!
